 |
Sycamore Shoals is the latest Revolutionary War Site to be added to the Roster of Events sponsored by the National Historic Sites and Celebrations Committee of the NSSAR. Befitting such a significant event, the Patriotic Organizations met for a second year in a row to honor the Overtmountain Men who made the long trek from Fort Watauga in Eastern Tennessee (then North Carolina) to Kings Mountain in South Carolina. It was to be noted that the attendance at this years event was larger than last year's. Perhaps it's because the guests came to see if the new home-built saluting cannon would actually work - and it DID, as evidenced by one of the photos below.
