On a crisp, sunny day in February, the descendants of North Carolina Highlanders stood on the same ground as their Patriot neighbors, joining together to honor the memory of brave men who had fought in this place nearly 2 and a half centuries ago. This was a "civil war", a Tory against Whig action which played a crucial part in forming our nation. The strength of that nation can be seen in the reconciliation that took place at war's end. While there are two separate monuments, one for the Loyalists and one for the Patriots, they travel the same road to get there. This is a brief remembrance of the Memorial Ceremony held at Moores Creek Bridge National Battlefield in 2009.
