When you visit Washington, Georgia, to attend the "Revolutionary Days" events, you will be immersed in a goodly number of activities and a whole host of venue-changes. This is not a single event; it is a flurry of activity, a total "experience"; well-crafted, meticulously planned, and executed with precison. Friday night is "Social Night": friends gather at Wisteria Hall for a warm reception where old friends greet each other and new friends are waiting just around the corner.
After everyone has had the chance to wet their whistle, it's on to the Pope Community Center for a sit-down dinner. This event has gotten so large that none of the restaurants in town were big enough to hold all the visitors. On this particular evening, Dan Elliot, a historical archaeologist, presented the findings of a recent study which provided physical evidence to support the written accounts, stories, and tall-tales which had related the Battle of Kettle Creek. Someone was heard to utter "Oh thank God! We've finally got the evidence to prove we were right after all these years!"
