The Halifax Resolves Chapter of the North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution scheduled a double-event for Saturday, April 11, 2009: a United States Flag Retirement Ceremony in the morning, and the 233rd Anniversary Memorial of the Adoption of the Halifax Resolves in the afternoon. Both events were well attended in spite of warnings by the weatherman that it might be raining that day. The Patriotic Organizations showed up in force, well-supported by the NCSSAR Color Guard and other citizens of Northeast North Carolina.
