Each year this celebration grows as its supporters make a concerted effort to spread the word about this heroic endeavor in the history of Revolutionary America. Some say it pales in significance when compared with other major battles in our War for Independence ..... but had it not been for the Crossing of the Dan, there would have been no Army to fight those battles. This, too, is the story of the Prizery, a permanent exhibit-in-planning in South Boston, VA, which will graphically portray the events that comprised the final three days of the Race to the Dan. It has engaged artists, authors, and model-makers to enhance the experience and to put a public face on an historic accomplishment, not only of its signature event, but of the entire Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War.
